Over the millennia, the horse has played many roles (economic, social, scientific). Unfortunately, in our countries, this importance is diminished by the presence of diseases such as equine trypanosomiasis. Consequently, 241 horses underwent clinical examination, and 241 blood samples were collected and analyzed using parasitological methods (smears, Buffy Coat) and serological tests (CATT/T. evansi). Clinically, 32% had a body temperature within the normal range, compared to 42% with hypothermia and 26% with hyperthermia. Based on the condition of the mucous membranes, 54% of the horses had pale ocular and oral mucous membranes. Of the 96 blood samples, hematocrit measurements revealed that 56% of the animals were anemic. The overall seroprevalence of trypanosomiasis was 32%: 13.3% in the Arabian-Barbe breed, 1.2% in the Arabian-Choa breed, 12.4% in the Dongolaw breed, and 4.6% in the Mouzzoï breed. The age range of serologically positive horses varied from 7 months to 16 years. Parasitological analysis detected 2 positive horses.
