Coastal camping and caravanning

The CCSPP is fully integrated into the Coastal Act but is rarely mentioned or taken into account. This practice, which is illegal in the context of town and country planning, also raises economic, social and environmental issues. This multidisciplinary dimension prompted our desire to examine the influence of the Coastal Act on this practice. We have opted for a comparative approach over time. The aim of this approach is to analyse the dynamics of this form of holiday-making since the Act came into force. We have also carried out a spatial comparison between specific coastal municipalities in the Pays de Brest region. Finally, our extensive panel of stakeholders interviewed and our research into a wide variety of documents have enabled us to gain a more objective perspective, whilst also allowing us to address various themes by comparing them. We observed that the practice of caravanning and motorhome tourism is managed differently depending on the municipality. However, the CCSPP persists due to a potential circumvention of the law. This gives rise to conflicts of interest and a complex interplay of actors.
