The Republic

Plato's "Republic" is the oldest known elaborated writing of political philosophy in human history. As the foundational writing of the doctrine of natural law, it is not only one of the most powerful works in literary history, but is also cited to this day. Within the work itself, Socrates is the dominant protagonist. Socrates develops, for example, the model of the state and the concept of the tripartite soul and also the doctrine of ideas.
