Although it covers only about 549 square kilometres (212 square miles), Guam has played an important role in the history, culture, trade, and military affairs of the Pacific for thousands of years. As the largest and southernmost island in the Mariana Islands archipelago, Guam serves as a bridge between Asia, Oceania, and the United States. Today, it is an unincorporated territory of the United States, known for its strategic location, breathtaking landscapes, and the resilience of its people.
