My Book Library — Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how users of My Book Library (Android package name: app.booksw.mybooklibrary, developer: booksw.app) can delete their account and associated data.

Deleting your account from inside the app

1. Open the My Book Library app and sign in to your account.
2. Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap Delete account at the bottom of the page.
5. Read the warning and confirm by tapping Remove.

Your account and library data are deleted from our servers as soon as you confirm. This action cannot be undone.

Requesting deletion by e-mail

If you cannot access the app, send an e-mail titled "My Book Library account deletion" to [email protected] from the address registered to your account. We complete verified requests within 30 days at the latest.

Data that is deleted

• Account information: your name, e-mail address, password hash and profile photo
• Every book record in your library: reading status, page progress, start/finish dates, ratings, reviews, tags and notes
• The bookcases you created and the assignment of books to them
• Your wishlist and lending records
• Cover images you uploaded yourself
• Your Google Sign-In link

Data that is retained, and for how long

• Legal records: Transaction and invoice records we are required to keep by law are retained for 10 years, disassociated from your account.
• Security logs: Server access logs kept to prevent abuse are deleted automatically within 90 days at most.
• Backups: Copies inside encrypted system backups disappear completely within 30 days as the backup cycle rotates.
• Shared book catalogue: General details of a book such as ISBN, title and author remain in the catalogue. This data is not personal and is not linked to you.

Deleting data without deleting your account

If you would rather keep your account, you can remove individual books from your library, delete a cover image you added, or empty your bookcases. Before deleting anything you can download a copy of your library via Profile → Export as CSV.

Relationship with BookSwap

My Book Library uses your booksw.app account. Deleting your account also deletes your data on booksw.app (BookSwap), because both apps share the same account.
